On August 16, 1999, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire debuts on ABC. The Show is an immediate hit, with ratings soaring to 30 million viewers a night. Many memorable moments happened those first few nights, including Michael Shutterly's $500,000 win, Doug Van Gundy's dramatic $250,000 win, Tom Coletta's "I'm a fat man Regis, my heart can't take it" response, Hillary Daw's joyful $16,000 win, Doug Foster, John McClain, David Honea, and Norman Payne agonizing over their $32,000 questions, and finally, David Honea's return due to a bad question having him win $125,000.

Pictures of International Millionaire

Posted: 02-05-02 | News |

While surfing the web, I stopped across http://www.uwlforum.co.uk and its a UK game show fan forum. And when going into the forum, I saw some great pics of some international WWTBAM sets.

The first picture you see is from the German version of WWTBAM. Some VERY noticable differences from the American Version is the graphics, in which the question and the four possible answers are displayed are colored in with blue, and the very large WWTBAM logo in the middle of the site.

Also you can see that the stairs on the side change color, unlike the American version which stays golden when lit. And the lights on the show are very noticeable and bright.

<Below> Now below you see another version of millionaire. When surfing the site I did not understand what version Millionaire this if from so I apologize, if you know where this is from please e-mail me at : wwtbamillionaire2000@yahoo.com  Some cool things you can see is that the set looks very "techy" and futuristic. Again you see the very huge WWTBAM logo in the middle of the set, and the contestant and host display stand looks cool, instead of the fake money like the american version, we just see a cool logo. Also you can see on the left you can see the Fastest Finger displays are different from the American version.

Overall I just want to show how Millionaire grew from the UK, to America, then to all over the world. Millionaire is a game show phenomenon, and REMEMBER if ABC didn't bring millionaire over to the US, we would of not have seen all these new game shows pop up like, Greed, Weakest Link, The Chair, Lost, The Amazing Race, The Chamber, etc.  In some way Millionaire made these shows come up, and revived the love for game shows.  Please visit our message boards to talk about it more.
