On August 16, 1999, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire debuts on ABC. The Show is an immediate hit, with ratings soaring to 30 million viewers a night. Many memorable moments happened those first few nights, including Michael Shutterly's $500,000 win, Doug Van Gundy's dramatic $250,000 win, Tom Coletta's "I'm a fat man Regis, my heart can't take it" response, Hillary Daw's joyful $16,000 win, Doug Foster, John McClain, David Honea, and Norman Payne agonizing over their $32,000 questions, and finally, David Honea's return due to a bad question having him win $125,000.

Happy New Year!

NOT REALLY:

From all of us here at Who Wants to be a Millionaire Fanatics, we would like to wish you a happy and safe new years eve, and new years day.
Who wants to be a millionaire might be canceled in the fall so keep up to date with news and inform ABC that you want to KEEP MILLIONAIRE.

Also ABC will be bringing a new game show to their list, called "The Chair". Stormseeker Games: "The new international series puts contestants in a chair, attached to a heart monitor, to answer questions. The catch: if their heart rate exceeds a 'resting value' determined prior to the show, they cannot answer any questions until they calm down -- and they lose some of their money in the process too."

We may also see "The Mole" come back. And NBC's "The Weakest Link" will have a syndicated version of the show. Syndicated weakest link debuts this coming Monday with George Gray.
